German businessman Martin Michael aims to restore the Akureyri-based airline Niceair. Martin has called a press meeting next week at Akureyri airport, Vísir reports. Former Niceair CEO and founder Þorvaldur Lúðvík Sigurjónsson claims to have faith in the undertaking.
In response to Vísir, Martin said that more information will be given at the press conference on December 16. During the company’s operations, Martin served as its marketing representative and German contact person.
Niceair embarked on its maiden flight in June 2022, but went bankrupt a year later.
In an interview with Vísir, Þorvaldur reacted positively to the venture, claiming that the route from Akureyri to Copenhagen would be successful. After Niceair’s bankruptcy, EasyJet grabbed the opportunity to fly from Akureyri to the UK.
